We break the ho-hum of history. What sets us apart and above other tours is that our Liberty Live tours and military staff rides are IMMERCIVE, INTERACTIVE, and INSPIRING. We place your boots on the actual grounds of the Southern Campaigns of the American Revolution. We meet and explore the significant people, significant places, significant events, and Revolutionary principles. You are there with scholarship, fellowship and fun.

Liberty Live has over 20 years of substantial field experience studying and relating to the American Revolution in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.

We often use supporting personnel too provide multiple voices and perspectives from the past. We utilize surprising demonstrations, like canon firing, to add the “you-are-there” experience.  Other unique elements include detailed handouts, quality site maps with battle phases, orders of battle, tour quizzes, accompanying accoutrements, then and “their” voices from first-hand accounts and pensions, and the site preservation historicity. We explore battlefields, museums, historic homes, and graves.

Our tours and staff rides make Liberty and the Revolution relevant for today’s people, military and current issues.

The primary tour/staff ride leader is David Paul Reuwer, J.D.  David serves as an attorney, preservationist, and Municipal Judge.  David graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law (CA) with a Juris Doctor degree.  He received a B.S. from Towson University in Baltimore (MD) majoring in Political Science and Psychology.  He was an adjunct professor at the College of Charleston teaching historic preservation (2001-2005) and chaired the paralegal and criminal justice program at Central Carolina Community College (1992-1995). From 1999-2001, he served as the Southern Regional Director of the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, managing historic preservation work and initiatives, budget and grant management, as well as public relations with owners of historic properties in nearly two dozen counties mostly along the Ohio River.

David co-founded in 2004 the Southern Campaigns of the American Revolution (SCAR) focused on scholarship and fellowship; the Southern Campaigns Revolutionary War Round Table (SCRWRT); and the Congress of American Revolution Round Tables which meets every two years nationally. David continually provides tours about and talks on our founding era, including numerous staff rides for the active and reserve military. David has been a preservation advocate and history enthusiast for over 50 years.  He has served on numerous historic societies and received many awards from preservation and heritage organizations. His best “saves” restoration projects have been the actors Edwin and John Wilkes Booth family home in Bel Air, MD, the boyhood home of astronaut Gus Grissom, IN, and the archeological reconnaissance survey of the battle of Eutaw Springs, SC, sponsored by the American Battlefield Protection Program (first Revolutionary War grant in the country).  His avocation is to find, save and interpret Revolutionary War battlefields in the southern states, serving on the board of the South Carolina Battleground Preservation Trust.  Davidreuwer3@aol.com 803.420.1776
